Dentist Who Treated STEVEN TYLER Says AEROSMITH Singer Is 'Doing Splendidly'
October 26, 2011According to the Associated Press, AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler is "doing splendidly" after taking what was described as a "nasty fall" in a hotel shower in Paraguay on Tuesday (October 25). The 63-year-old singer required emergency dental work and stitches to repair cuts to his face and to replace the two teeth knocked out during the accident. Sources later told TMZ.com that Tyler was suffering from dehydration as a result of food poisoning, which led him to collapse in the shower.
Tyler, who was in town to perform with AEROSMITH when the accident occurred, was reportedly "friendly and humble" during his surgeries and surprised the Paraguayan dentist who treated him "with his cheerfulness."
Nicolas Garzia, a spokesperson for the concert's promoter, tweeted that the singer had been suffering stomach problems and was dehydrated prior to the fall.
The Tuesday night gig in Asuncion, Paraguay was canceled and rescheduled for Wednesday (October 26).
Tyler fell from a stage in South Dakota two years ago, breaking his shoulder and leading to the cancellation of the rest of the band's 2009 summer tour.
The group took a break from the studio for the current South American trek, which it will follow with a Japanese run at the end of November.
AEROSMITH is expected to resume work on its first all-new studio album in 10 years early in 2012, immediately after the holidays.
